IMO, the moniker “self-made” elicits responses that are aligned with that person’s experience. If you are an entrepreneur, and you have actually worked at building a company at scale, you know the title self-made brings with it all the baggage and sress and hard work that this requires. If you are simply an observer, or a fan, or someone who has not had firsthand experience of this process, then you may feel entitled to debate this, but I think in that case, it’s more about your projection of your inability to match the work and the outcome.
